No amount of proof satisfies sexual abuse apologists
I know this look. I've encountered it many times. It's the look of a man bred to take and take and take — to take everything except accountability.
On August 20, 2023, Spain's soccer chief, Luis Rubiales, planted an unsolicited kiss on football player Jenni Hermoso during the Women's World Cup awards ceremony. In the 93 years of the men's FIFA World Cup, no coach has ever impulsively smooched one of the players on the lips out of excitement for the game. But Rubiales sure didn't mind phrasing it that way.
We all saw it, the assault. Yet Rubiales and Spain's Football Federation (RFEF) insist that our eyes deceive us.
